ISWAP militant group says Nigeria’s Boko Haram leader is dead
On the 6th June the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) militant group said in an audio recording heard by Reuters on Sunday that Abubakar Shekau, leader of rival Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram, was dead.
Shekau died around May 18 after detonating an explosive device when he was pursued by ISWAP fighters following a battle, a person purporting to be ISWAP leader Abu Musab al-Barnawi said on the audio recording "Abubakar Shekau, God has judged him by sending him to heaven," he can be heard saying.
Two people familiar with al-Barnawi told Reuters the voice on the recording was that of the ISWAP leader. A Nigerian intelligence report shared by a government official and Boko Haram researchers have also said Shekau is dead.
“Ransomware is now key cyber threat” warns NCSC CEO
THE CHIEF of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has stated that ransomware is the key cyber threat facing the UK and urged members of the public and the business community to take it seriously. Delivering the Royal United Services Institute’s (RUSI) Annual Security Lecture in an online format, Lindy Cameron warned of the “cumulative effect” of failing to properly deal with this rising threat.
Cameron also revealed the threat faced by Think Tanks, noting that it’s “almost certain” that the primary cyber threat they face is from nation state espionage groups. It’s highly likely the latter will seek to gain strategic insights into Government policy and commercially sensitive information.
The CEO of the NCSC – which is a part of GCHQ – has also warned that, for the majority of UK citizens and organisations, the primary key threat is not state actors, but cyber criminals.

Back delivering Women’s self-defence courses

A group of five friends had a 2 hour self-defence taster session for one of the groups birthday. The session was delivered in one of their back gardens and all participants and trainers undertook a PCS COVID test before the session started.
We started off with a brief discussion around situational awareness, criminal behaviour and the victim mentality and mind set and a brief discussion on rapist psychology. This was followed by practical sessions on striking and kicking options followed by grab release techniques and finally floor escape drills.
